Fender Serial Number Finder

FENDER SERIAL NUMBER TELECASTER squier Series beautiful rare EMS F/S* Fender. Fender Japan Mid 80s E Serial number Stratocaster ST72-50 Olympic White. Just as with Fender guitars, you’ll find serial numbers that should fall in a certain year but don’t. Example: Vibrolux Reverb with serial number A756254 should be a ’77, but the latest date-coded parts date it to 1978. Some serial numbers have a letter prefix plus 4-digits instead of the usual 5- or 6-digits. Squier Bass Serial Number Check. IS: I = Indonesia, S = Samick, the serial number prefix is followed by a 2 number year. For example 'IC02' Made in 2002. In 2009-10 some Indonesian Squier's had the prefix ICS09XXXXX and ICS10XXXXX. There are a number of standard models that have the ICS prefix some are FSR but some are just normal run models.

Anyone know of a URL of a Fender database that tracks serial numbers of strats? I'm trying to help a relative determine if his 'American' strat was made in Mexico or not. I thought perhaps the number would indicate its source of origin.

  1. Serial Numbers. Like the body and neck dates, using serial numbers to date a Fender is not a sure bet. At many points in Fender's history, serial number usage overlapped again owing to the modular manner of production.

Hi Leonardo, welcome to the forum 😊 I hope you will like it here.

I think this is a 1992 stratocaster and around %575-900 -
however perhaps another member can give you a more accurate number.

Fender.com has a decent s/n lookup function too.

Value of used Fenders is based on condition (unless it is real old). A good place to check value is on eBay. Just see what they are selling for. In good condition, a US made strat that is 10 years old or so should bring $500-700.

Mexican Fender serial numbers usually start with the letter M. But check out Fender.com to be sure.

Same goes for you.

Gavin, that's a beautiful guitar 😊 I found a discussion about a 1996 American Strat HERE, on Ebay (please click), in where the price of $600 was mentioned as a 'good-low price'. Perhaps this gives you some indication 😊

I have a 1987 American stratocaster. My brother paid $800.00 new. Does anyone know what I should sell it for. It was given to me in 1989 and has been played approximently 40 hours if that much.

Hi all, just joined when I was researching the serial numbers for Mexican made strats. I'm about to sell one and want to describe the age accurately and hopefully I will buy a 84 SG tomorrow, hell of a deal, I still love Fenders but..love AC/DC too. One day I will have a guitar collection, for me that means more than one!

I'm having trouble figuring out whether my Fender Starcaster is a vintage or one of the recent remakes, can you help? serial #0050960782

This Might Interest You

Well, of course it is a matter of opinion. However, I think there's a fantastic amount of BS spoken about the place of manufacture of instruments. I spent a couple of hours trying out Fenders - not Squiers - from US, Mexico, Japan and China and from a craftsman's point of view I thought the Chinese guitar held its own as a professional instrument - in fact I preferred it to the US Standard Tele (but that's mostly 'cos I don't like satin neck finishes).

I was round at a mates the other day comparing his USA 52 RI Tele to my recently acquired 60s Mex Tele. We really couldn't see or hear a vast difference, in fact he preferred the Mexican made guitar - and that's between one instrument costing a third of the price of the other.

Have you tried one of the Modern Player guitars? According to the dealer Fender were so impressed with the CV Squier guitars that they decided to release the Modern Player series under the parent brand rather than Squier.

I think that when you're talking about a US Tele Standard costing over a thousand pounds (GBP) and the Chinese made Fender Modern Player costing less than a third you certainly do get what you pay for - a much better bargain with the Chinese made instrument.

These are mass produced instruments (and were cleverly designed to be so) and anyone who has any experience of production engineering knows that it all comes down to quality control - Fender have cracked it in China.
