The anonymous contact said they'd improved on the original KickassTorrents site by adding a mobile version, and noted (with the original, ambiguous, wording retained here) that the site 'will has the complete torrent database of KAT, including the comments, user information intact.' All this shows what we already knew: that you can't completely remove piracy sites from the internet, but you can discourage those who want to run them. The Department of Justice's statement on KAT's alleged founder and operator, 30-year-old Artem Vaulin, charges him with 'unlawfully distributing well over $1 billion of copyrighted materials,' and claims that he collected roughly $16 million in advertising revenue a year. KickassTorrents may be back (sort of), but Vaulin's future is about get a lot tougher.

Update July 30th, 09:40AM ET: The cat-and-mouse game continues: KAT.am has been taken down, and the site has been moved over to kickass.cd. Expect that to change eventually too.

The website is rebuild using new user database, and safe elements. At the moment, due to high server load, the users are experiencing some troubles loading the website.

This fully operating torrent site looks similar to the deceased Kat.cr. Talking to TF, the KATcr team said that the majority of original KAT site admins and crew have joined the new endeavor. “This shows the loyalty, dedication and real love for KAT that we all share,” he added.

To keep the member safe, the site was rebuilt and only the safe elements were kept, according to KATcr crew.

The staffers also believe that the original staffers of the website will be soon free and the outcome of the pending legal action will be in their favor.
